Each year that I have a child in Science 5, they have to make "A Cell You Can Eat." This year was Ben's turn.

From Ben:
I got two plastic bags to stand for cells. the one not in a cup is that animal cell. the one in the cup is the plant cell. The cup stands for a cell wall. They both have the nucleus (in this case it's a marshmallow). In the nucleus are the chromosomes (which are shredded carrots). We put mandarin oranges in the bags to stand for mitochondria. We put thinly cut bananas in for the golgi body, folded tortilla strips in to act as the endoplasmic reticulum, and raisins in the folds of the tortilla to act as the ribosomes.
